Essential Scripture
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Brief Reflection
When I began reading the Bible in my teens, this Proverb was among the first I recall memorising. A dear friend and Christian brother—by the name of Shadrach—directed me to it. To this day, it is one of the scriptures firmly etched on this often forgetful memory.
"Trust in the LORD" is a powerful start. All endeavours that begin with this simplest of instructions will certainly be found pleasing to the LORD, but also good for the soul who lives by it. Many have chosen to trust in:
the gym;
the stock market;
the family;
the government;
the gut feeling (instinct, intellect, information).
These will lead to peril if they come first—over and above "Trust in the LORD".
What are you trusting today? More importantly, who are you trusting today?
Guided Prayer
Lord Jesus, I want you to be the one in whom I place all my trust—above all. Grant me, through your Holy Spirit, daily repentance and faith to walk in trust. Amen.
