Hi, my name is Amelia, and I'm eleven years old. In this post, I'm going to tell you about my school sports day drama, and how frowns were turned upside down.
In my school, there are four houses (teams) named after great people. These include Wesley, Shaftesbury, Wilberforce, and Booth—by the way, I'm in Booth. All the houses are great, and this year, I got voted to be the Booth house captain.
But here's the sad part: Booth has NEVER won a Sports Day or House Cup. Thankfully, with hope and prayer, anything can happen. And last summer in 2025— it did, finally.
During the run up to Sports Day, we spent most of our lunch breaks training for the big day. We were determined to win, but still doubting ourselves.
Finally, the big day arrived. I was very nervous because I so desperately wanted to win. But with Booth members winning events (running, hula-hooping javelin, etc), our prayers, hope, and determination finally paid of as Booth won the important relay race.
But the story gets better. For the first time ever, Booth won Sports Day by a whopping lead of twenty points! The entire team was over the moon. As captain, I felt proud, and my heart was beating fast. Even though we won, all the other houses did an excellent job! Well done to them.
Phillipians 4:13 says:
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
And thats why, with the Lord, nothing is impossible. With some determination, lots of prayer and hope, any frown can be turned upside down!
