For Consider Him

When I was about twenty years of age, I wrote a poem. I didn't have a particular love for poetry, nor an understanding of the art form. I had just read Hebrews 12:3 for the first time and remember feeling floored.
The poem titled "For Consider Him" is partially lifted from the complete verse, which reads, "For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls." (New King James Version, NKJV). Below is the full text of the poem I'm sharing for the first time. I hope it helps you to fix your eyes on Jesus by considering Him.
For Consider Him
Inspired by Hebrews 12:3
Written by Vic Gill
Is my suffering greater than His?
Is my pain more agonizing than His?
Are my feelings more betrayed more than His?
Are my emotions plucked and thrown around more than His?
Do my wounds go deeper than His?
Does my patience exceed His?
Does my long suffering endure longer than His?
Are my tears heavier than His?
Am I reproached as often as Him?
Can my tolerance surpass His?
Am I despised more than Him?
Am I spat upon so viciously as Him?
God whispers into my heart and says no my son…For consider Him
For consider Him who endured the cross, despising the shame
For consider Him who forgave His tormentors all the same
For consider Him who bore your sufferings with tears
For consider Him who made Himself of no reputation because He cares
For consider Him who laid aside His majesty for the world
For consider Him who remained silent as abuses were hurled
For consider Him who carried our sorrows on His back
For consider Him who opened not His mouth though words He did not lack
For consider Him who endured such hostility from wicked men
For consider Him who so easily forgave His enemies and still loved them
For consider Him who wept
For consider Him who cried whilst His disciples slept
For consider Him who wore a crown of thorns
For consider Him as the Father mourns
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners.
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners.
